Congratulations to all our 2023-2024 Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendent's (CAPSS) Student Award Recipients!

We were thrilled to welcome award winning, nationally renowned artist and performer Steve Roslonek of SteveSongs. Steve delighted the children with songs that got them moving, dancing, singing and laughing.

Members of the Bloomfield Public Schools Science of Reading Master Class team stepped up to the plate to present their work to the Board of Education Curriculum Committee. The team will be presenting to the Connecticut State Department of Education next month on their work.

Mrs. Mellady (Room 205) and Mrs. Mancini's (Room 206) welcomed families today for a combined art show. Student's created and displayed artwork in the style of Mondrian, Van Gogh, Seurat, Chihuly and more! The children were very excited to share their creations.

Mr Turner's class (room (304) were mesmerized watching praying mantises hatch from an egg sac. There were so many!

Many thanks to our PTO and all our families for providing Wintonbury staff with a fabulous teacher appreciation week. We even had an ice cream treat delivered to our rooms by students! Could not get more special than that!

Some classrooms are counting down to the last day of school with the ABCs. Today was A for animal day and children brought in favorite stuffed animals from home.

Thank you Wintonbury PTO for providing a delicious lunch to our staff to kick off Teacher's Appreciation Week. It was such a treat to have a buffet of salad, sandwich and dessert offerings for our dining pleasure. We are grateful for your thoughtfulness and for making us feel appreciated!

At Wintonbury today we also danced and hopped at the same time to the song Can't Stop that Feeling. We did this as part of Project Aces (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) and the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) Hop-a-Thon.

Students in Mrs. Guidice's class (room 106) filled cardboard vases with dandelions. Extra dandelions were picked and crushed to create dandelion paint.

Also on Earth day, Ms. Cole's class (room 301) collected garbage on the school grounds. This will help keep our Earth clean and healthy.

Happy Earth Day! Today, every child at Wintonbury is planting two sunflower seeds. After they sprout, one will go home and one will be planted in Wintonbury's outdoor spaces.

Mrs. Hein's class (room 201) was excited to discover 19 tadpoles hatched from eggs laid by their South African frog. Students are lining up to observe the tadpoles and anticipate their transformation into frogs! More to come.

At Wintonbury today we tasted tomatillos for our Friday Try day!

Students in Mr. Turner's class (room 304) worked together to build an intricate structure with cups.

Mrs. Lomnicky's class (room 203) has a theater! Students take on roles such as selling tickets, serving "popcorn" and "soda" and being an audience member. This puppet theater is used as an opportunity for students to retell familiar stories.
