At the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, March 12, the Board of Education voted to amend the 2023-2024 school calendar.
Due to the Presidential Primary on Tuesday, April 2, all schools, with the exception of Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School, will be closed. The last day for all schools will now be on Friday, June 14.

Students celebrated Bloomfield Literacy Week today by wearing Wintonbury shirts on Wednesday!
Thank you to the Vocational Agricultural Center at Bloomfield High School for acquiring ten lemon tree plants for our classrooms. These plants helped to bring to life the story told by our visiting author, When Grandma Gives you a Lemon Tree.
We were thrilled to welcome author Jamie L. B. Deenihan to Wintonbury today! She read her book When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree and demonstrated the life cycle of a lemon tree.

Mrs. Linton's class is studying Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist, as part of Black History month. Students made a model of a telescope as part of the inquiry.
Mrs. Rushlow's class investigated the inside of a coconut. All the students took turns hammering the coconut to create cracks in the shell.
In celebration of Valentine's Day, Mary Munson, author of Love Will Turn You Around, and a Wintonbury special education teacher, visited several classrooms to read her book and introduce "Heart".
Mrs. Griffin and her class participate in our school spirit day. Students and staff wore clothing representing their favorite teams and sports.
Students in Mrs. Rushlow's class are preparing for Valentine's Day with making fancy chocolates (with brown playdough!).
At Auerfarm this month, students are learning about fleece and fiber. Fleece is spun into yarn and yarn is woven into clothes that keep us warm.
We are thankful to Miss Nicole, and Ollie the dog, from CT Pediatric Dentistry in West Hartford for teaching our students how to keep their teeth healthy. Miss Nicole will be visiting with classrooms all week.

Mrs. Howe in Room 102 operated the sewing machine while students pressed on the pedal with their hands. Each child picked a fabric square to add to the class patchwork pillow.
